Natural Thermal Springs in a Desert Jungle Oasis (Ep.15)
In this Vanlife travel episode we start in the East Macdonnell Ranges, and continue over to Ormiston Gorge in the West Macdonnell Ranges. We were happy that the Northern Territory had received a great wet season, leaving Ormiston Gorge much fuller compared to the first time Lori and I visited back in late 2020.
After Ormiston Gorge we continued north up the Stuart Highway ending up in Mataranka, a small town that is home to some of the most beautiful thermal springs in the world. Bitter Springs was our favourite natural thermal spring in Mataranka, providing crystal clear swimming water in a desert jungle oasis.
Places visited in (South Australia):
- Traphina Gorge (East Macdonnell Range)
- Ormiston Gorge (West Macdonnell Range)
- Alice Springs
- Larrimah Pub
- Daly Waters Truck Stop
- Mataranka
- Bitter Springs (Mataranka)

A CHANGE OF PLANS? (Ep.8)
Переглядів 2,9 тис.3 роки тому
After successfully completing the Red Centre Way, and seeing Uluru, we returned to Alice Springs in preparation to continue further north to Darwin. However, after some consideration we decided the timing wasn't right as it is moving into wet season up north and will be really hot, humid and rainy (not the best time to visit). We decided it would be best to adventure to South Australia first, a...

I hike up to "Valley of The Winds", an amazing path between the EPIC rocks mountains, which literally look like gigantic boulders 100 metres tall. On the way back to Alice Springs we stopped in at Mount Conner lookout, which has a hidden secret lying across the road, an enormous ancient salt lake. Places visit...
S1E16 Sprinter Van Conversion | All Van Upgrades
Переглядів 10 тис.3 роки тому
See all the van upgrades since the original van build in 2018. A lot of things have changed, or should I say have been added. While living in a van you are constantly figuring out a better way for something to work or operate, hence you are always upgrading, and its fun, the project never ends in a way. Some things in this video never made the cut of the original van build series, like the sola...
S2E8 Sprinter Van Life | How I Fixed My 12V Shurflo Pump
Переглядів 3,6 тис.3 роки тому
This is how I fixed my 12V pump! I have had intermittent issues with my 12V Shurflo pump multiple times whilst living vanlife. I suspected it was the pressure switch, and this time I found out what was really going on. My pump is mounted underneath the van, which means it is susceptible to dust etc, and this is what was the problem. Dust and debri was finding its way through a tiny unsealed ent...
S1E8.1 Sprinter Van Conversion | Solar Update

Here's the latest solar update to the van! In short, I haven't changed anything with the solar system since I built it back in 2017. However, I never got to show you the wind diffuser I mounted to the front panel shortly after I released the original S1E8 Solar video. This diffuser ensures that wind pressure does not build up underneath the solar panel array whilst I'm driving, which nobody wan...

S1E7.1 Sprinter Van Conversion | Plumbing Update

Here's the latest plumbing update to the van! Since the initial van build I have updated a few things. I had dramas with the initial 110L fresh water tank mounting system, so I updated it to Uni-Strut steel and 12mm Booka Rod (Threaded Rod). This is a much stronger support system and I havent had a problem since. I also have had 12V water pump issues, but I fixed that issue in S2E8 Sprinter Van...

1/4 inch birch ply would have been a much better choice for the walls. Luan is, as you found out, very porous and sucks up paint like a sponge. Also, the birch ply is a MUCH nicer, smoother finish. Sure, it's much more expensive than luan, but the time (and paint) saved makes it worth it. Finally, using small wood battens over the joints between ply sheets would be a nice finishing touch. (I'm a retired finish carpenter)

Try using self-drilling sheet metal screws. No pre-drilling. Saves a lot of time.

I like that you're not using all of the expensive equipment and shops other youtubers are using and you're using a small hand tool to cut the pieces. It looks so do-able.

Question: Have you ever considered a "rain water collection system" so fresh water won't be such a limiting factor and you can stay off-grid longer (if you choose).

cool build bro. But those safes aren’t very secure. You can basically push in the LED light on the keypad and use a stiff wire to open it. They’re not made very well. Get yourself an old school dial combo safe. No power and they actually work. Although harder to find. Nice work brother 👍🏻

there is a BIG PROBLEM with this install , and it is , weather sealing the dark grey plastic moulding on the outside of the van , rain water can get behind the plastic and get into your van ... i have just cut the hole for my gas box , i will be making a piece of metal to cover the bottom hole i cut in the framework , at the underside of the box and the metal will protrude tout o the plastic moulding , i am "hoping" i can get a good water seal ... not happy , at all , how this fits , it needs to be redesigned somehow ... the dark grey plastic moulding needs to be dealt with another way ... if you fit the box like this , rain will leak into the side of your van .

Very nicely done video, but: A. Wildly unhelpful for anyone in a northern climate. Basically a video showing what NOT to do. If you follow this build in the US, realize you can never travel to a lot of awesome winter (or even early spring or late fall) destinations. Basically, will need to stick to California, desert SW, deep South and Florida. Non-starter for Canada and most of Europe. B. If I'm seeing correctly, you have some PVC underneath that is awfully close to your exhaust system. Would make me nervous.
